“Art can never be understood, but can only be seen as a kind of magic, the most profound and mysterious of all human activities”. — Bill Reid
TIMBER FRAMING
THE LYF SO SHORT, THE CRAFT SO LONG TO LERNE.
— GEOFFREY CHAUCER
For decades, I've been curating unique trees, each selected for their story, character, and singularity. When we work with these trees, we aren't imposing our will upon them, but rather revealing their true nature. Each one carries the scars of wind, lightning, fire, and time, telling a story that mirrors our own resilience and reveals that beauty lies in imperfection.
Through craft we define space with meaning and memory, for those who desire a home imbued with lasting beauty.
Design
For over thirty years, I've been designing and building homes that people fall in love with for life.
The design process here is personal and unhurried. You work directly with me, from first conversation to finished home. We work equally well alongside architects and builders who understand what our craft demands.
Most of our clients come to us with a dream and a site. Some have never built before. That's exactly where we love to start. We'll guide you through the full journey: design, timber framing, and construction, with the kind of personal attention that only comes from a small, devoted team.
This is your home. We treat it that way.
Build
CREATING A BUILDING FROM TREES IS A BIT LIKE ALCHEMY. INSTEAD OF TURNING BASE METAL TO GOLD, THE ALCHEMIST- CARPENTER HAD TO TURN TREES INTO BEAMS, INTO FRAMES, INTO BUILDINGS.
—RICHARD HARRIS, DISCOVERING TIMBER-FRAMED BUILDINGS
We build one project at a time, and I’m on site throughout. The cohesive vision that defines our work doesn't happen by accident. It happens because the same hands that designed your home are the ones building it.
Every home is utterly unique and never repeated. We draw from building science and Passive House technology, source materials locally, and bring a level of detail to every decision that only comes from decades of devotion to the craft.
Each project reflects our belief in people and place. We invest deeply in those we work with, in the land, and in the materials that shape our craft.
